God’s Blessings and Hope for the Future

“I will never forget you all the days of my life. In every situation you have never failed.”

These are lyrics from one of the songs the church choir sang this morning at Gilgal Christian Harvest Fellowship in Uganda. These words were a perfect testament to God’s goodness and unfailing love for us, even in times of trouble.

Today we heard a powerful testimony from visiting Pastor Mutoni from Rwanda. She told the church’s youth to ask God for good friends as she didn’t choose wisely and it led her down the wrong path. Pastor Mutoni was taken from her home by people she knew and forced to marry someone she didn’t love. When her husband went to prison, she and her 2 children were kicked out of their home and she had to find a way to provide. It led her on a downward spiral of sin. However when she hit rock bottom, when all hope was lost, she found God and He saved her life. Today she is remarried with 4 more children.

Stephen then preached about the Armor of God from the book of Ephesians. He started with the children and explained how in NH, when we get a lot of snow, it’s important that he has the right clothes and tools to brave the cold and shovel his driveway. Then, similar to dressing up for the cold weather, the team dressed a child in the Armor of God and explained how God uses each piece to protect us from the devil’s schemes. Each child received a stone that had either a cross or a word (strength, peace or faith) on it.

After service we enjoyed lunch with the leaders of the church and fellowship with the teachers and children.

In the afternoon, we met with the women’s cooperative and Jenn shared her testimony. Heidi then shared her Armor of God prayer with the ladies. Bishop explained how the microloan program works and that after training, they will all receive microloans. They are the first group in Uganda to receive AWHI microloans. We are excited to see the fruits of their hard work and commitment.

Before preparing to head back to Kigali in the morning, we shared our last meal together at Pastor Rose’s home. Her sister, Ramlah is a wonderful cook and we will miss her meals! We had a great time together and look forward to a return visit in the future.

Until then, Pastor Rose has a prayer request for us. They built their church in June of 2022 on land that they rent. The landowners are in the process of selling the land. The community is praying that God may find a way for them to purchase the land so they don’t have to leave. The land is worth around $40,000.

Isaiah 60:22- “At the right time, I, the lord will make it happen.”

We trust that God will reveal his plan for this community when the time comes. We look forward to coming back to visit our Ugandan family!
